Weddings have always attracted guests with cameras, but these days — when reports say that almost four in five people now have a smartphone with high resolution camera in their pocket or handbag — you might well wonder why you need to fork out money for an official wedding photographer at all?
“Certainly other people there will capture their own personal moments with their cameras,” says Neil Fordyce of Neil Fordyce Photography, “but I think having a professional photographer there on the day will take a lot of the stress off people. We’re there to do a job, to get the photographs, to help the wedding run a lot smoother and quicker, and to get everything you want.
“When you’re looking back through the photographs, you don’t want to be thinking: ‘Oh, it’s a shame we didn’t get that.’ Your photographs are your memories,” he adds. “With still photography, you’re looking at people’s expressions, people’s gestures, and remembering conversations and meetings you had with them; it brings the whole thing back to life again…
